The Indiana Academy of Science recognizes individuals who have exhibited extra ordinary loyalty and effort to the Academy and to Science. Members who have been recognized by the receipt of these awards are listed on linked pages.
A Fellow is a member of the Academy (minimum of 5 years) who has demonstrated service to the Academy and to the advancement of science in Indiana; service to education in science; and achievements in scientific research. Nature of service to the Academy includes attending Indiana Academy of Science meetings, presenting papers at meetings, publishing in the Proceedings; serving as an officer, as a section or committee chair, as a committee member; playing a role in organizing Academy activities.
The Council may select and honor individuals as Fellows annually. Each new Fellow shall be introduced at the general assembly of the annual meeting. The President shall bestow each Fellow with an Academy pin. The 2019 recipients of this award
Distinguished Scholar Award (List of Awardees)
The Distinguished Scholar Award of Indiana Academy of Science is bestowed upon individuals who have been recognized by the Academy as having an exceptional record of scholarship. Award recipients have been selected by the Council, and acknowledged through awards made at the annual Academy meeting.
The Council may select and honor one Academy member each year for his or her outstanding scholarship. The awardee shall be introduced at the general assembly of the annual meeting. The 2019 recipient of this award
The Distinguished Service Award of Indiana Academy of Science is bestowed upon individuals who have been recognized as having supported the Academy through service exceeding any normal expectation. Award recipients have been recognized by the Academy Council, and acknowledged through awards made at the annual Academy meeting.
The Council may select and honor one Academy member each year for his or her outstanding service to The Academy. The awardee shall be introduced at the general assembly of the annual meeting. The 2019 recipient of this award
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advocate Award
The DEI Advocate Award of the Indiana Academy of Science is bestowed upon individuals who have promoted diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and/or justice within the Academy and/or their scientific communities through actions sustained over time or that have made a recent critical impact (e.g. initiating new programs, etc.). Nominations for the Award may be submitted by any member of the Indiana scientific community, and nominees may be either IAS members or non-members. Student nominees are welcomed and encouraged, as are self-nominations. Nominations will be reviewed by the DEI Committee, and recommendations will be made to the Academy Council. Recipient(s) of the award will be recognized at the Annual Academy Meeting, where they will be acknowledged by the membership of the Academy, and the Award recipient(s) will be given a plaque to bear witness to the Academy’s recognition of this service, as well as one year of free membership to the Academy.
Nominations for the DEI Advocate Award are due on November 30, 2024.
